WAREHOUSE GUTTER CLEANING CASE STUDY

Preventing Water Damage at Fox Moving & Storage’s Bristol Warehouse

When Fox Moving & Storage contacted Dawson’s Gutter Cleaning, their warehouse gutters had become heavily blocked with standing water, moss and years of accumulated debris. The blockages prevented rainwater from draining correctly, increasing the risk of overflowing gutters, leaks and costly damage to the building.

Our team carried out a full commercial gutter clearance, removing the debris and restoring the drainage system before further problems could develop.

The Problem

Large amounts of moss, leaves and organic debris had built up throughout the gutter system

Like many commercial buildings, the warehouse gutters had not been maintained for some time.
Large amounts of moss, leaves and organic debris had built up throughout the gutter system, preventing water from flowing to the outlets.
Instead of draining away, significant volumes of water had become trapped inside the gutters.

This extra weight places unnecessary stress on the guttering and can eventually lead to:

  • Internal water ingress
  • Damp walls
  • Damage to cladding
  • Failed gutter joints
  • Sagging gutter sections
  • Costly repairs
  • Overflowing gutters

Following our inspection, it was clear the system required a complete clearance rather than a routine clean.

Our Solution

Restoring a Flooded Warehouse Gutter System

The biggest challenge wasn’t removing the debris—it was the sheer amount of standing water trapped inside the gutters.
As no accessible downpipes could be located to drain the system, we used our commercial gutter vacuum equipment to extract the standing water directly from the guttering before carrying out a full debris clearance.

Once the water had been removed, we cleared years of accumulated moss and organic material from both sides of the warehouse, restoring the gutters so rainwater could flow freely again.
The project took approximately a full working day to complete, with comprehensive before and after photos and video footage provided to the client on completion.

I prefer the second version because it immediately explains why the job took so long and reinforces your expertise in handling an unusual commercial drainage problem. It tells a stronger story than simply saying you emptied the gutters.

The Results

Complete removal of moss, leaves debris

Standing water eliminated

Rainwater able to drain correctly

Reduced risk of future water damage

What the Client Said

Following completion of the work, the client later contacted us to request our photographs and video footage to assist the original gutter installation contractor in diagnosing drainage issues—demonstrating the value of having clear documentation after commercial gutter maintenance.

“Mike has authorised your quote assuming it is for both sides of the building and removal of debris.”

Why Regular Warehouse Gutter Maintenance Matters

Commercial warehouses collect huge volumes of rainwater.

When gutters become blocked, water has nowhere to go.

Over time this can lead to:

  • Overflowing gutters
  • Damage to cladding
  • Damp internal walls
  • Structural deterioration
  • Safety hazards
  • Expensive emergency repairs

Regular gutter maintenance is significantly more cost-effective than repairing water damage after problems develop.
